My Baby is One! {Personal}

Today is a bittersweet day for me.  My baby, literally, turned one year old today!  Whaaaaaaaaaaaa!  I have to admit that I wasn’t looking forward to this day.  Vanessa’s first year went by too fast!  I LOVE the baby stage.  I think since Vanessa is our last, I’m having an even harder time knowing that I won’t be going through the baby stage anymore:( Some of you are probably thinking that I’m crazy.  I’ve heard many moms and dads say that they do not miss that stage.  Yes, the baby stage is hard.  In fact, it’s not easy at all.  And when you have two other younger kids, there are A LOT of stressful moments.  With Vanessa, it was even harder in the beginning because she had colic and acid reflux. We didn’t experience that with our first two so I felt like a first time mom again.  I spent the first 3 months pacing back and forth while she cried even though I was carrying her in my arms during odd hours of the night.  But you know what?  I would still do it all over again.

Now Vanessa and I are buddies.  When I’m not working, she’s always with me.  She’s in my arms, on my hip or in a baby carrier that I wear in front of me. For the most part, she is a happy baby.  But she can be feisty!  When she gets mad, oh my!  My husband and I call her “0 to 60″, meaning that she can go from 0 miles per hour to 60 miles per hour in 1 second!  Don’t you dare take anything out of her hands!  And when she’s sleepy but can’t nap in her crib because of our busy schedule, she is one fussy baby!

At the same time, she is soooooo sweet!  She gives the best hugs.  The best!  We have so many tender moments.  Especially when we’re putting her to bed.  She puts her head on my shoulders and holds onto me tight.  Then with one hand, she will pat me on the back.  She does this every time I put her to sleep.  When people talk to her, she tilts her head towards me.  We call it her shy look.  She has become extremely playful these days.  She loves playing peek-a-boo and just crawls and stands everywhere while getting into everything!  If there was a baby crawling race, she would would win!  Don’t let her petite size fool you!  She’s not the best eater but she’s a great sleeper.  I can’t have everything.  She LOVES LOVES LOVES her sisters!  Thank God for Alexis and Makayla.  They have helped me so much to soothe, calm and entertain her.  Vanessa will laugh at everything they do.  She loves when Alexis crawl chases her around the house.  She’s not too fond of car rides and hates strollers but loves yogurt and carrots and loves to watch her sister dance in dance class.  At 1, she still has no teeth!  But I do love her gummy smile.  It’s all in her eyes!  And cheeks!  She also loves Daddy.  When she hears the door open when he comes home from work, she screams and crawls as fast as she could to the door.  It is the cutest thing in the world!

My little Nessa, I’m going miss you being a baby but at the same time, I look forward the next stage in your life.  I look forward to all the new milestones you’ll reach.  I love how interactive you’re getting and I can’t wait until you say mama.  I love your beautiful smile and our cuddle sessions.  I love the way you look at me like I’m your everything.  It makes my heart melt.  I hope that you will always look at me that way.  Thank you for the last 12 months!  You challenged me and enriched my life at the same time.  I love you with all my heart and so does Daddy and your sisters.  Our family is better with you in it. Happy birthday my love.

My Love Bugs {Personal}

I wish I had something enlightening to say about love.  And like many moms out there, I typically could go on forever about how much I love my kids.  To be honest, at the moment, I’m lost for words.  I just don’t think my words would give it justice.  That and it’s super late right now and I can’t think.:)

So I will just post these pictures of my Love Bugs from our Valentine’s session.  Enjoy this day with your loved ones.  Make sure they know how much you love them not only today, but everyday and not only through words.

Baby Vanessa is already 9 months!  She has been my little buddy.
These girls crack each other up!  They get the giggles and they can’t stop.  It’s really cute.All 3 of my love bugs!  Just want to squeeze them!

Makayla Today {Personal}

Before we had our 3rd child a little over 8 months ago, Makayla was the baby of the family.  For some reason, I often think she is still the baby even though she is turning 4 today!  I vividly remember her first year and carrying her all the time.  Now at 4, she is a bundle of energy!  She brings a lot of life into a room with her animated expressions, her little munchkin voice that I just want to put into a box so I can hear it forever unchanged, and her feistiness. Oh yes she sure is feisty!  Spunky and spirited!  She is hilarious and is always cracking me up.  She says the funniest things but I have to be careful because she is also sensitive and will think you are laughing at her!  Just thinking about how funny she is puts a smile on my face while I’m writing this.

Makayla’s favorite color is of course pink and if it’s sparkly, even better!  She likes watching her favorite shows.  She also loves listening to books on CDs and will play them over and over.  She has a sweet tooth like her mommy and loves anything chocolate.  She loves breakfast and one of her favorite places to eat is IHOP.  She likes to play dress-up and loves to be a princess.  She likes to listen to music and her current favorite song is Party Rock.  As soon as we get in the car, she’ll say, “Mommy, can you put on party music please?”  She loves to dance around and act silly especially if daddy is acting silly with her.  And boy can she move her hips!  Her dancing is the cutest thing in the whole world!  Of course she dances with attitude too!  Kayla loves playing with her older sister Lexi.  I love how she calls Lexi to play.  She says her name so cute!  Lastly, Makayla LOVES her stuffed animals, blankets and her thumb.  She loves soft things and loves to cuddle.  She gives the best hugs ever!

This is just a little glimpse of Makayla today, on her 4th birthday.  She’s so full of life!  Makayla, you warm up my heart.  I love our cuddle time together. Thank you for your sense of humor and for your infectious laugh.  I love you with all my heart.  You add so much to our family. Happy 4th birthday my love. You are such a big girl now!

Every year for my kids’ birthdays, I make a collage of some of my favorite pics from the year.  Here is Kayla’s collage.

Alexis Today

Waaaaaah!!!  My baby is not a little girl anymore!  Yes, I’m being melodramatic.  I’ve been known to do that.  My oldest daughter, Alexis, turned 6 years old today.  6!  I’ve said before that I love kids 5 and under because they are still innocent, care free and think the world of their parents.  Does that start to decline when they turn 6?  Is this the beginning of answering back to parents?  Am I not going to be the best thing ever since slice bread?  I really hope not!

Lexi today is one of the happiest, easy-going and positive kid I know.  I love that about her.  She often teaches me instead of the other way around.  She’s thoughtful and caring.  She loves learning new things and therefore, is not scared to try something new.  She’s adventurous and loves the “scary” rides at amusement parks.  She is a great big sister and has been a tremendous help taking care of her two younger sisters.  Babies love her!  Maybe they sense her good heart.  Lexi loves to sing, dance, play soccer, read, swim, playing dress-up and pretend, drawing and doing crafts.  She loves spending time with her cousins and being silly.  Today, if you ask Lexi what she wants to be when she grows up, she’ll say she wants to be a singer, maybe a chef too.  She’ll also tell you that when she gets married, she’s going to stay at our current house and live with me.  Her favorite color is still pink.  She loves scrambled eggs and chocolate milk.  Her current song play list consist of Fireworks, Call Me Maybe, Party Rock Anthem, Starships, and a few Christmas songs.  She is a child of God and loves reading the bible, going to Sunday school and church.

This is just a little glimpse of Alexis today, on her 6th birthday.  I want to remember her like this and that’s why I try my best to document her childhood through photographs and journalizing.  She maybe getting older, but as I always tell her, she will ALWAYS be my baby.

Lexi, I love you so much!  There are not enough words to describe how much you have enriched our lives.  You make my heart smile and you constantly give me “happy tears”.  Thank you for being you. Enjoy your special day and enjoy being 6!  Happy birthday baby girl.

Every year for my kids’ birthdays, I make a collage of some of my favorite pics from the year.  Here is Lexi’s collage.

The Ward Family {Orange County Family Photographer}

The Christmas season is here.  Do you feel it?  I’ve felt it when I’ve been driving around running errands, Christmas songs playing on the radio and decorations all around.  I went to Costco yesterday (yes, another Costco story) and the parking lot was full and busy.  I had a return to do so when I was in the return line, I heard a lady in line tell the lady behind me that she was actually in front of her.  The lady behind me was so surprised and didn’t even realized what she had done.  She was taken back by the other woman’s forwardness.  The other woman explained to her that she was in a rush and that she had already been waiting in line for a long time.  They started to go back and forth a little.

Yes, it’s the Christmas season.  Along with happy holiday cheer, Christmas decorations, joyful songs, family and friends gathering…unfortunately, rude and mean people have been a staple of the Christmas season.  It’s really strange.  You would think people would be nicer during this time of the year.  If it was me, and I understand that I’m not perfect and not always right, I wouldn’t have said anything if that was me in line and someone went in front of me by accident.  If I felt that the other person didn’t have a clue that she was cutting in front of me, why even bother.  It’s just one other person, it’s not going to save me that much more time.  I’m sure good things will come my way anyway so it all goes around.  Who cares.  The season should bring a lot of holiday cheer but I admit that it also brings a lot of stress.  I have been a stressball for many holiday seasons.  I tell myself each year that I’m going to be less stressed and every year is doesn’t quite work out as planned.  I will try again this year.  But no matter how stressed I am, it doesn’t give me a reason to go around and be grumpy to people.  Afterall, Christmas is my favorite time of the year, no matter how stressful it is.  I love it and I’m always sad when the season is over.

The season also means a lot of family sessions and Christmas cards!  It has been crazy busy.  But I’ve been having fun hanging out with all these wonderful families.  Here is the Ward family.  They were so much fun to shoot as well as easy!  It’s a little refreshing to work with the older kids because no tricking is necessary.  I usually have to trick the toddlers to make them think that they are not on a photo shoot!  With this family, they just did their own thing and I shot away.

I’ve known these girls since they were 11 months and 4 years old.  Now look at them!  Especially Alex who is now 10!  Crazy!I LOVE this look that Rick is giving Chris.  It is so sweet!Awwwww:)Beautiful couple!Ward family, you’ve been framed!
