Life's Sweetest Moments – The Blog bio picture
  • Photography by Diana Mattar

    Hi! Welcome to my Photography Blog where I will be sharing with you my love of photography, my life stories and everything else in between.

    I'm a Southern California photographer who loves to capture all of Life's Sweetest Moments in photographs. My photography style is fun, fresh and natural. I love documenting life and I want to document it the way it happened. A session with me, is me photographing you...just being you. My goal is to capture the moment, your personality, the feeling.

    Visit my blog regularly to see my recent work and to see what else I've been up to. I would love to hear from you so please feel free to leave a comment or send me an email.

Downtime {Personal}

Happy Friday everyone!  Yesterday, I had my own “Saturday”.  I took the day off from work in the middle of the week to spend time with the kiddos.  It’s been a little rough lately because I’ve been working a lot and being 8 months pregnant, I’ve been super tired at the same time.  So, mommy time with them has been lacking.  Actually, let me rephrase that, quality mommy time has been lacking.

We took a trip to Zoomars, a petting zoo in San Juan Capistrano and met some of their friends from preschool.  My girls had so much fun petting the animals, riding ponies & a train and playing on the playground.  Most importantly, I think they enjoyed spending time with their friends and me without my computer or rushing them off to the next activity on schedule.  Sometimes it’s important to hit the pause button and put everything aside.  We definitely need to do it more often.  We’re always on the go and our calendar always tends to be full.  As I’m typing this, I realize that I have to do a better job in finding downtime in our schedule…even if that means I have to schedule downtime.  I know that many of my mommy friends have this same problem so if anyone has any tips, please feel free to forward them my way!

In the meantime, I wanted to share these pics from our trip.  Of course I had to get some portrait shots of the kids.  They were just too cute and the light was gorgeous that day!

I caught Alexis with this horse statue.  It totally seemed like she was trying to talk to him:)

My little model.  These were her own poses.Makayla looks so much older, not to mention taller, in these pictures!  You wouldn’t think she’s only 3 here.Little Miss J is the daughter of Anne, owner of Gum Drops Hair Candy (www.gumdropshaircandy.com).  She’s always wearing the cutest hair accessories, like this one!Little Miss S.The gang.Of course, we had to get some silly pictures!  This is always the kids’ favorite part.

Little Jackson {Irvine Baby Photographer}

I’m doing this a little backwards.  I first took Jackson’s pictures when he was 3 months old around the holidays.  I have yet to post about that session.  This set right here is from our most recent session, Jackson at 6 months.  I’ll keep it short as I have a lot of pictures to share.  This little dude was one of the best dressed babies I’ve seen.  He arrived with a complete closet including all kinds of accessories.  This is one lucky kid because his mommy and grandma love to shop and have great taste!  Maybe I can get them to shop for me.

Jackson you are so adorable and such a little trooper!  I know you weren’t feeling 100% that day but it doesn’t show in these pictures.  Can’t wait for my next session with you.

Looks like Jackson is going to be a world traveler.Or maybe he’ll be a scholar.

A Growing Family {Irvine Family Photographer / Maternity Photographer}

This May, my family will grow from 4 to 5 as I am expecting my third child.  It sounds a little scary…3 kids…party of 5, yikes!  Am I ready for this?  Are my husband and I ready to be out numbered?  I joke around to people that having kids made me cut out so many things in my life…doing my hair, wearing make-up on a regular basis, looking put together on a regular basis, hot meals, listening to my music in the car, sometimes showers, exercising, reading books for leisure, …basically any free time to yourself.

So I can’t imagine what else I could cut out when #3 arrives.  Yet, I chose to have another child.  The truth is that no matter how much work kids are, I have gained so much more that it doesn’t even compare to what I’ve had to cut out.  Although I have more responsibilities, I feel like I’m living life as a kid again.  I’m enjoying doing all the activities I used to do as a child and seeing the world through their eyes.  I get to act silly and dance around with them like no one is watching.  There is a lot of singing, dancing, running, screaming, pretending, hugging and laughing in our household.  So when I think of adding a #3, I can only see more of this and I think to myself, thank God for kids.

Here is a session of another growing family.  Baby #2 has already arrived but I haven’t had a chance to blog about this session.  I also did Andrea’s maternity session with her first child and look how big she is now!  They are such a wonderful family.  Andrea makes pregnancy look easy and great! Andrea and Kevin, congrats again on baby Cole!  I hope you are enjoying your family of 4!

Growing Up {Orange County Senior Photography}

When Sara’s dad contacted me to do Sara’s senior portraits, I was shocked that she was already a senior.  I met Sara when she was about 12 years old and somehow all these years passed by and this fall she’s off to college!  Where did the time go.  I can’t help thinking about my own daughters leaving to college soon…okay, maybe I’m being over dramatic since they are only 5 and 3 but sometimes I do feel like time goes by that fast!

Sara, congrats on everything you’ve accomplished and everything else that you are about to do.  Good luck in Oregon.  Enjoy your college years!

I love Sara’s eyes and smile!  Sara, you’re beautiful inside and out.

Big Brother, Little Brother {Ladera Ranch Newborn Photographer}

There is something to be said about the relationship between brothers or sisters.  I feel like in my parents’ generation, there was a trend in having two kids and preferably one boy and one girl.  Although, there are definitely pros to having both genders, there is definitely something special about the bond two brothers or two sisters form.  I see my two nephews play together and I can tell they truly enjoy each others company and have each others back.  Of course I’m a little bias because I have two girls of my own but I love watching how they interact with each other.  It’s one of my favorite things to do. They are only 5 and 3 and they’ll read to one another, dance like crazy, have tickle fights, or be plain old silly to make each other laugh.  I imagine them as adults having tea together or going shopping together.   Maybe it’s wishful thinking since it is one of my biggest hopes for them…to grow up and be best friends.

I hope the same for these two precious little boys.  I’ve been photographing Noah since he was a baby himself and now he’s a big brother to Luke.  Luke is just as adorable as Noah!  I just want to squeeze them both!  And they have such wonderful parents.  Congrats again Lance and Jackie for your beautiful growing family!

I posted one sneak peek from this session awhile back on my Facebook fan page, but I never got the chance to blog about it.  So here are a few more of my favorite images from the session.
